Tom Rimshot The sound of a ship drifting through the black, stowed under the long deep sleep. Systems on standby, engines recirculating the solar panels' catchment for power, absorbing the hull condensation to reintegrate as coolant. Lights dimmed to a fuzzy orange, pods bathed in a safe blue glow. It would be a thousand years before they ever woke up, atrophied and dazed, only to find the ship has lost its way, or the maps were wrong, or something else entirely, feeling the empty sound under their breath.
